  1. I think it was smart that George Washington appointed people with opposing views. If you have someone who doesnt agree with what you are doing, then they can argue it and give that person another point of view that the person may not have taken into consideration. One example is when Alexander Hamilton wanted a government more like Great Britian while Jefferson wanted a government with strong state governments. Another example is Hamilton wanted a repuplic and Jefferson wanted a democracy.

  2. I think that it was a smart decision to appoint people with opposing views on government to his cabinet because you will get different perspectives. By their different opinions, decisions that are made will be more fair. By having different political ideas you will have a wider range of opinions. One example is Hamilton believed in a strong central government and Jefferson distrusted a strong central government.

  3. I think that it was a brilliant idea for George Washington to appoint people to his cabinet. Not only was it people he appointed who had opposing views as to the nature of the federal government and its goals, but just the aroma of different views and NOT only one view of/to the federal government.

  4. I think that Washington's decision for opposing opinions on views was, in fact, genius. Clearly this was considered a smart choice due to several aspects depending on governmental decisions. 1) In order to make a legitimate, yet agreeable choice, is to first debate it, and then discuss flaws and other problems associated with the decision at hand. A clear example is the debate between Hamilton's concept of having a republic (people and decisions under the rule of law) vs. Jefferson's democracy (decisions made my majority rather than by law). If not for Washington's decision for two completely different opinions toe be appointed in his cabinet, either the central government may have gotten too strong, or the people may have become too strong.

  5. I think that the decision that George Washington made was a smart decision. This was because when you have people with different points of views on different things, it allows more descussion to be made. This would lead to people talking about things from different points of views towards things which eventually leads to better desicions being made because the topic was disscussed more then if there was only one point of view. For example Hamilton and Jerfferson, they both had different views on how goverement should run. Hamilton wanted a strong central goverment while Jerferson wanted a a stronger State goverment. Throught this different powers were given to both the state and central goverment insted of just one getting all of it.

  6. I think that Washington's decision for opposing opinions on views was a smart decision. I feel this way because if everyone had the same views then there would be nothing to debate. When two different opinions are brought to the table if gives people a chance to decide what they really want and who they want to side with. It helps to make better decisions in the future because then things are more thought out and planned. A perfect example would be how Hamilton wanted a strong central government oppoed to the fact that Jefferson wanted a strong state government.

  7. Yes I feel it was smart for George Washington to put opposing opinions in the same cabinet. I feel this because it's good for the country to have people in charge with different opinions. This is important so that what the majority of what all people want is what the country gets. Other wise it would be like living in a country with communism.

  8. In my opinion, Washington's idea to appoint a cabinet was a very wise decision. Not only did it lift some of the weight from his shoulders but it also allowed smarter decision to be made. This is because there was more than one persons opinion discussed and debated. More people are pleased this way because it is not just an individuals opinion.

  13. i think it was smart of George Washington to appoint people with diffrent oppions because its better to have diffrent views on a certain subject than to have one veiw on a subject. 14. Yes, I think that George Washington was smart to appoint two individuals with opposing views. Hamilton came from poverty, but he believed that the wealthy were the only ones with enough education and knowledge to make the right decisions. Therefore, Hamilton tended to side with the wealthy. On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson came from a wealthy background, yet he sided with the average citizen. Hamilton believed that the United States should have a strong central government, and it should be run by the rich - whereas Jefferson wanted a strong state and local government so that there can be more people taking part in the decision-making process. Having both these people appointed on the cabinet allowed for both sides to be heard by the public. It also allowed for both views to be represented.

  15. I do think that the George made a great decision becuase chooisng people of the same views is pretty much favoritism becuase if he did that he could say what ever they want to hear and then they would agree on it even if it was a bad choice, but because he chose people fo different point of views there is more veriety and the opposing views could point out the flaws in the other ones choice therfore making a unanimus decision that is agreeable and it satisfy their needs :) <3

  17. I think it was a good idea for Washington to have people with different opinions in his cabinet. It was good because one opinion s not always the best. So having more than one can help you to find a better answer. Also the people were benifiting from having more than one view.

  18. I think it was a good idea for Washington to have people with different opinions in his cabinet. This allowed for there to be different views on how things should be instead of it being one sided. There needs to be a variety of ideas so that the government is balanced. Also, Washington didnt have to make all the decisions himself and it allowed for others to have a say in what was going on in the government as well. For example, Hamilton believed in a strong national government while Jefferson believed in a strong state government.

  19. I think that the decision of George Washington for appointing people with opposing views was the next step to success. It was great to have different people from different back rounds with different beliefs. This helped people feel that favoritism wasn't going on at this time. More people were happy about having more then one voice. This also advanced in communication within strong leaders :))))))!!!

  20. I think george washington was smart choosing opposing views in his cabinet. It challenged his intellect and made him see differnt sides and opinions of situations and govertment law just instead of his own. Hamilton views of Strong national govt and Jefferson vies of a more liberal free people govt. Made george washington make the country better and more balanced.

  21. I agree with having opposing views in George Washington's cabinet because it balances out. If there wasn't opposing views it would cause chaos. It also took pressure off of Washington's shoulder because he diddn't have to make all the decisions. It also allowed more ideas to be accepted like Hamilton saying a strong national government.

  22. i think it was a smart idea for george washington to appoint individuals with opposing views in his cabinet. By having two different views of government he could see the differnces and try to make his decision in between the two arguments. having jefferson's views of a government with more power in the states and people opposed to hamiltions views of a strong central government can make it eaiser for washington to make the country have more balanced power.

  23. I think it was a very smart idea for Washington to appoint people with different views to his cabinet. This way any decisions that need to be made will be discussed thoroughly. Different views of the individuals in the cabinet will help Washington see what is right and what is wrong with his opinion, this way its not unfair to the people and it will show strong leadership and good management of his power in government.

  24. I believe that it was smart for George Wachington to appoint individuals with opposing views on government to his cabinet. This was a smart idea because it gave Washingtion insight on a different perspective. He will hear from both sides the good and the bad. This will make him more understanding and aware of what can happen in the future.

  25. I think that washington's decision was smart. It allowed him to consider the different view points of differents people. Everyone had a say whether they agreed or not. It also allowed his decisions to be easier by seeing how many people wanted what.

This was a smart idea because that way he had a wide range of ideas and hear both sides of the debate. Both views were considered and represented. In the end when a decision was made it makes it more likely for it to be the better one.

  27. I think Washingtons decision was wise because it is always good to have apossing views on important matters. Also a heathy debate is always a good thing to have. At the end they would choose one of the two views( or how ever many there were) and go for that and maybe have more debates about stuff within the prior debate

  28. it was quite a smart decision for Washington to add members of opposing views on his cabinet. by adding these members he ensured that every issue touched apon was equal. it forced both parties to argue and form a final solution that made both sides happy and that population would accept

  29. I think that George Washington was smart to choose members of his cabinet that had an opposing view. Rather than one point of view there would be many. This would cause a debate and force one to question themself. They would be open to other ideas that maybe they wouldn't have thought of themselves. Different view points equal a variety of diverse ideas.

  35. Washington needed views of different opinions in his cabinet to support the different therorys to help build the foundation of his new country. The more diverse the ideas, the better the chance for a more organizied society. Too much of one central government can over power one another causeing unequal power. Washington knew this so he split the governments power.

I in fact agree with your statement, and there by agree with your way of thinking in term's of "another person's point of view." Perspective is infact one of the main importances in terms of creating and making decisions. I acknowlegde your submitted answer and view it as an agreeable standpoint.

  40. Re: Brandon V
Although your train of thought is correct, i must absolutly disagree with the fact that you wrote "final solution that made both sides happy and that population would accept". Technically speaking this is an inaccurate and WRONG. there is no such possibilty as "both sides being happy". This is considered wishful thinking, becuase even if government (or both parties) make a decision that they are able to agree on, the population will never be satisified due to general differences.

  43. I think having a cabinet with opposing views, such as Hamilton and Jefferson, was a very well planned strategy by Washington because it ensured more than one opinion. With numerous views and opinions in the cabinet, he could appease every person in the country that backed the ideas of these opposing parties, leading to a better nation. Even though they didn't initially agree out of the cabinet, they could create a collage of ideas that would consist of dual ideas.

  44. RE:Amanda
I agree with Amanda because with different ideas, comes more helpful ways to improve the government.

I agree with galan and indy that a legitimate decsion is made upon having a discussion and pointing out the advantages and flaws of each party beacuse you balance out each others views and find differnt ways of solving a problem. Each new idea or persons view will end up helping the govt i ntha long run

  49. In my opinion, Washington's approval for his cabinet was a climb to futures with success and a bold movement which paved the road for many leaders that followed in time. When he selected his cabinet, the appointed all had one thing in common, they were at presence when the Constitution was upheld and written. This, showed that mutual roots were the sustaining bond that held them together, and even if their opinions were differentiated in future decisions, they all had the same background towards each other. Washington could rely on them to help, due to trust and his view of the box from all different angles that each of them provided.
