  20. The case of Marbury V. Madison is viewed as a pivotal point in the system of checks and balances. With the Creation of "Judicial review", the Judicial Branch of government is able to complete that central equality known as the "Three branches". Judicial review is the concept where the Judicial Branch (Supreme Court) is able to view laws and acts of congress and the refine and review them. with that being established, the Judicial Branch has the power to prove whether or not this act from congress is unlawful or unconstitutional. If not for the judicial review, many of the laws and acts passed by congress today may not exist. the Judicial review prevents unconstitutional acts as well as corrupt decisions. The country we call the "United States" could possibly be in political turmoil and complete totalitarianism/monarchy. this is what protects us from unlawful decisions.

Many believed the court expressed solemn interest in this case because of Marbury's appointed status, which in the end was proved wrong. This case used judicial review to it's power rather than legislation appealed by Congress and the President.
